At Coinstar® kiosks, you can add funds of up to $500 per transaction, $3,000 per day, and $10,000 per week. When you make a purchase with your CINQ by Coinstar™ Debit Card, the merchant places a temporary authorization hold to confirm funds are available. We typically hold all transactions between 7 and 30 days. If the merchant finalizes (or “settles”) the transaction within that window, the payment clears and the funds are sent to the merchant. If the merchant does not settle within the applicable hold period, the hold is released after that period expires, and the funds become available again. Funds subject to an authorization hold cannot be accessed or spent.
Yes, in certain cases. While transactions may be held for up to 30 days, some merchants may not finalize a transaction until later. If you spend the released funds after the applicable hold period expires and the merchant later submits the settlement, your account could temporarily go into a negative balance. This is rare, but it can happen with late-settling merchants. There is no overdraft fee, and the negative balance is automatically offset by your next load or direct deposit onto the card. You will not be able to use your card for additional transactions if it has a negative balance.
Yes. The CINQ by Coinstar™ Debit Card is issued by Lead Bank, Member FDIC. When Lead Bank receives the money that you load to your CINQ by Coinstar card, the funds on deposit with Lead Bank are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (“FDIC”) up to $250,000, subject to applicable limitations and restrictions of such insurance in the event of the bank’s failure.
